Crownair Aviation Acquires IFR Avionics Announcement made at NBAA Annual Convention
NBAA Annual Convention, Atlanta, GA, September 25, 2007- Crownair Aviation, one of the most experienced and respected names in jet aircraft, pressurized piston and turbo-prop maintenance on the West Coast, today announced its acquisition of IFR Avionics – an international leader in avionics engineering and custom aircraft outfitting. The acquisition was announced at the 60th Annual National Business Aviation Association’s Annual Convention, the premier event of the avionics community, in Atlanta. The acquisition further expands Crownair’s ability to provide a wide range of services, including offering the latest aviation technologies in their customization projects. For nearly 40 years, IFR Avionics has served as an independent facility in Van Nuys, California, providing specialized and innovative installations to numerous Fortune 500 companies. Their field teams have been recognized for off-site installations in such diverse locations as Ethiopia, the Artic Circle, the Amazon River, Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, Columbia and Mexico.

Though IFR will now be under the ownership of Crownair Aviation, James Lauer, President of IFR since 1978, will remain as the company’s President. Lauer’s professional experience in the aviation community has helped elevate IFR’s reputation that it enjoys in the industry today. A Navy Veteran, Lauer has managed several aviation companies in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas areas. He also has served as an advisor on numerous aviation industry boards, including 17 years of service on the Board of Directors of the Aircraft Electronics Association.
